Legal Definitions 

• Lawyer - a person learned in the law; as an attorney, counsel or solicitor; a person licensed to practice law
• Injury - damage or harm caused to the structure or function of the body caused by an outside agent or force, which may be physical or chemical.
• Negligence - a legal concept in the common law legal systems usually used to achieve compensation for injuries (not accidents).
• Personal Injury - occurs when a person has suffered some form of injury, either physical or psychological, as the result of an accident or medical malpractice.
• Pain & Suffering - the legal term for the physical and emotional stress caused from an injury.
• Tort - the name given to a body of law that addresses, and provides remedies for, civil wrongs not arising out of contractual obligations.^[
